Talking to the Enrollment Advisor
I want to go a school that will meet all my needs, but I'm not sure if I'm asking the right questions. What kinds of questions should I be asking the enrollment advisor/counselor?
When learning about your college or university, it's important to learn as much as possible about the institution before enrolling. You might already have a list of questions to ask the enrollment counselor, but if not, here are some things to consider asking about.
One of the most important items is to ask about tuition and any other costs you should anticipate. Is there a fee to apply? What kind of financial aid is available to someone in your situation?
Many prospective students consider online education because they are interested in accelerating their degree program. Find out if you will be able to test out of any courses, or what the university's policy is regarding transferring credit. If you are someone in the military, find out if the school will grant credit for CLEP or DANTES exams.
These are just a few topics that you should cover when discussing enrollment with a representative. For a more complete list of topics, please read through our article about what to ask before enrolling in an online degree program.

Online Student Interview: Abner
"The job market is changing rapidly, and the only way to make it is via education."
Through the years, Abner had built up a number of college credits and earned his associate's degree in 2006 after eight years of taking courses. He wanted to continue his academic work, but taking courses traditionally on-campus was difficult.
"Working full time and attending class at a traditional, brick-and-mortar university is very difficult The great thing about distance learning is assignments can be submitted via e-mail or fax anytime of the day or night."
