Engineering Degree Programs
"What is engineering?"
The word engineering covers a lot of ground. A lot of the academic work centers around statistics, mathematics, and physics. Sound dull? Don't bet on it! If you are a problem-solver and like to figure out how things work, engineering will probably be an engaging field of study for you.
"Why should I consider studying engineering online?"
There are some great schools that offer engineering programs via the Internet. Lehigh University, located in Pennsylvania, offers two graduate level programs, and its faculty has been teaching students online since 1992!
Studying online means not having to consider geography. You could be in L.A., log into your Fluid Mechanics course at 4 a.m. and turn in an assignment to your professor who lives in New England.
Learn more about studying engineering. We've written out a special section that describes what you can expect as an engineering student.
Read descriptions of engineering programs you can take online. There are many specializations listed, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Are they accredited schools? You bet. We only list schools that are accredited by an agency that is fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Hot Careers in 2007: Auto Repair Technician
In 2003, passenger vehicles travelled 2,675,009 miles on U.S. highways, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Almost 3 million miles! New jobs are being created at a rate of about 17 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Yes, you can take courses in auto repair using the Internet. The Penn Foster Career School has designed an auto repair technician training program that you can take at your own pace. What does that mean? You will never fall behind in your studies. You can spend as much time as you need to complete each and every lesson.
You can train for a great career as an auto repair technician on a schedule that works for you. Learn about this school and see if the Penn Foster Career School's programs might work for you.

After earning her associate's degree, she had been well on her way to getting a bachelor's, but when she learned that she was pregnant, she put her child's needs before her own. More than anything, Nicole wanted to give her child a good life.
"I started thinking about going back to school about a year after my first daughter was born. I knew that in order to provide well for her, I needed to complete my education."
Read about the strength and determination of one single mother and her experience studying online.
