Starting Your Online College Search — News for the Week of January 14th, 2008

Starting Your Online College Search

If you were to look up the word "bachelor" in the dictionary, you might be surprised at what you find.

"1. an unmarried man. 2. a person with a bachelor's degree." *

And if you look up "master", you'll find the same thing: "5. a person with a master's degree." †

There are many hidden facts that lie underneath the surface. This year, dare to challenge yourself and find strength from within. You may be closer to earning a degree than you think, especially if you've ever taken college level courses in the past. You can earn college credit by taking examinations like the CLEP test.

Take it one step at a time, and give yourself room to research. There are hundreds of colleges and universities with distance learning opportunities. By doing your homework, you're more likely to find the right fit. Good luck with your search, online learners!

Professional Certification Programs

If you'd like to sharpen your skills and increase your industry knowledge, without committing to a degree program, then a professional certificate program may meet your needs. Certificate programs (also referred to as continuing education programs) aren't as costly as degree programs, and most are completed within a matter of months.

These concentrated, brief online programs are offered by accredited colleges and universities, and there are programs available at all levels.

If you haven't already, spend some time looking at what professional subjects might interest you.
