There are many kinds of accrediting agencies. Which one is best?

There are two types of accreditation to be concerned about: accreditation at the institutional level and specialized accreditation.

Colleges and universities are either nationally or regionally accredited. eLearners.com lists the school's accreditation information on its school information page. Read more about national and regional accreditation.

Some areas of study require more thorough evaluation to more closely review the academic curricula and training provided by the faculty. Specialized accreditation evaluates departments within a school.

Engineering programs, for example, can be accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), whose concern is to ensure that the engineering students are receiving the kind of education that will help them become successful engineers.
