Online University Highlight of the Week

George Washington University

George Washington University was established in 1821 in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Online courses at GW are not self-paced or independent study courses. Students interact with their professor and classmates, participating actively in a virtual classroom community, and submit assignments according to deadlines set by the professor.

George Washington University is regionally accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Below is a list of programs delivered online by George Washington University:

Quick Meals for Busy Adults

I'm starting my online courses soon, but I'm the parent who does the cooking in our house. Aside from frozen dinners, what can I put on the table without spending hours in the kitchen?

You don't have to resort to frozen pizza and instant noodles to sustain yourself and your family at dinnertime. Tasty, satifying meals are possible, even with hectic schedules. Rachael Ray has been teaching America about preparing meals in thirty minutes for years and has yet to run out of recipe ideas!

Consider par-baked items, simple stews, and slow-cooker recipes to have meals ready as quickly as possible. Do you own an electric timer? Plug your slow-cooker into the timer and set the cook time so that a hot meal is ready when everyone's home.

Online Student Interview: Quinnon

"I went to a regular university for a long time but didn't accomplish anything because I can't stand sitting in a classroom"

The rigid scheduling of taking classes traditionally on a campus conflicted with Quinnon's military career. He wants to continually advance, but without a degree, he would not be able to make the climb as quickly. Distance learning allowed him to continue his education while being able to maintain his professional duties.

"Being in the military, I'd have to just take off, go on trips … life has to get put on hold, that's just how it is … there was no flexibility at the traditional school."
